Greetings and best wishes to all members of the FOCC for 2008 I trust that everyone had a good break. It is very distressing to read about so many lives lost on the road over Christmas. Looking back through my life I can recall some very horrific road events that effected many lives. I t is one of those things that you ask yourself ‘why’ but there is never any good reason to it. I don’t mean to belittle anyone’s personnel grief but how would this one sit. A couple from neighbouring country towns were to be married in the afternoon. But during a delivery of wedding articles the younger brother of the groom had a head on collision with the bride in-between the towns. The bride lost her life. Part of the goods was several tins of red paint. Besides the people concerned, the visual trauma was extreme. I have never seen a town so quiet for so long. Enough of the doom and gloom, this year can be fantastic and one of the FOCC’s best if you members want that. In fact it is completely up to you. I and the rest of the Committee can only perform well if we are well supported. (This reads like a sales brochure) and you tell us what you want. We have set in some new ideas for social events like a drive in night. Also this is the year of the spook night, a very popular event.
Still time to get involved !!!!. Don’t sit on you backside and watch the day pass by. Get involved and be proud to take part in an Australian event. Can not get much bigger than that. I f you have not got anything booked, get on the phone now NOW and let Vince know you will be there. The after parade lunch is just as good with lots of Christmas stories and banter to go around. I will be there in my trusty rust bucket and so should you be and it is not important how rare, common or normal your car is. I t is about being Australian and taking part in our heritage.
Oh my Giddy Aunt, not again. Yes, The FOCC is expected to once again put on the only display of Ford followers interested in ‘The Ford’ as a car and those people who are proud of their cars. Not just some bunch of over chromed rev hards. I know it is not everybody’s mug of Milo but it is a prestigious event for Fords and perhaps the only one on the calendar in South Australia for this brand of cars. It attracts lot of people (thousands). I t is also one of the FOCC’s greatest avenues for attracting new members, and showcasing our Club. This year we have prime position so we need to make this placing justified. How? Thanks for asking. By numbers, variety and presentation. You know those things, new members. This is one of those events where we are judged by the Ford public and many of our new members come from this venue. So support your Club and take part. I am aiming for 50 cars but Vince says there will only be about 29. Either I will be pleased or Vince will be saying “I told you so”. Be at the First meeting of 2008 and put your hand up to show a registration of interest or ring one of the Committee and let them know you will be there.
