Zippel Poker Run 2006

Another fantastic start to the new year from the Ford Owners Car Club. The evening started at approx 6:00pm with Steve Bonython arranging the cars to meet at the Woolworth's Shopping Centre car park on the corner of Balcombe Ave & Findon Road. As we arrived it was great to see the excellent selection of cars that had turned up. 19 club members and 3 guests

We proceeded over to the Veneto Club Car park on Toogood Ave, Beverley to meet up with the GM Performance club who had arranged this event. On arrival it was obvious that the event had brought on a massive crowd and the cars on display numbered over 250. It was nice to see that our beloved Ford brad was proudly on display.

At about 7:00pm the siren sounded and the cars began to move away. Single file over and over the American cars rolled out onto the road to start the cruise. As we stood watching the cars and Motorcycles pass some of our club members were included.

As the last cars moved out it was our turn to follow on. We had been given a map prior to the start and this show us the route to be followed. Out of the club rooms and down onto Port Road. It was a great feeling to see all of the cars out on the open road traveling along through to Semaphore and the Esplanade. As we turned down towards North Haven it became obvious that a number of people had come out to see this event. People were lining the streets and waving to the cars.

We proceeded to the end of the road and turned around, back along the esplanade. It was starting to get dark now and the lights on the cars were now switched on. Continuing on down past West Lakes and on towards the Airport. Turn left onto Anzac Highway and through to the City (West Terrace), Keep left down Port Road, Grange Road and Back to the Club rooms. This was certainly a good cruise and well planned.

The whole trip took about 1.5 hours and we traveled about 75klms. Not bad for an Evening Cruise. When we arrived back a Band was playing in the oval and Villi's pie were readily at hand. I would like to thank Steve Bonython & Vince Clark for all the efforts they put into this successful Evening. And a thank you to all the members that participated.

Let keep this up
