A fantastic start to the new year from the Ford Owners Car Club. The day started at approx 8:15am (For some of us) at Franklin St in the city, on a bright and sunny day. The forecast was for 39c and it was already 28c. As the cars were lining up there was a feeling that the day was to be a success. The FOCC members did us proud. One after another, car after car, to a total of 20 people in 13 cars. Gordon Cowley lead the group with flags held high, our club banner proudly displaying the FOCC logo.
In Victoria square, a BBQ had been setup for the days festivities and the club members all happily enjoyed the "Snags" provided for the early comers breakfast. The FOCC members and friends gathered together and mingled, introducing themselves to each other.
The parade started at about 10:15 but we were positioned in group 6 so we waited about 15mins to start. "Were off" east down Franklin St then a left turn down King William St. Fantastic look at the crowds, King William Street was lines both sides with people young and old all with happy Australia day smiles. On we went across North Terrace and past the Festival Theatre. The Premier and the Governor of South Australia sat to the left waving the flags high. At a previous club meeting it was decided that the FOCC members would leave the city area and proceed to Ford Oval for the days BBQ and Drinks. so we proceeded to travel out of the city and down Norwood parade to Ford Oval. It was there we gathered and fired up the BBQ.
The Day ended about 1:30pm when due to the exhausting heat we proceed to disperse. I would like to thank Vince and Pam for all the efforts they put into this successful day. And a thank you to all the members that participated. Peter Kendall - Club Secretary
