Vehicle Driven: 2001 AU Ford Futura

 

I have been a member of The Ford Owners Car Club for about 2 years. One Sunday morning, I was doing patrols on Port Wakefield Road, when I came across a gathering of cars at The Cavan Hotel Car Park. By the time I had parked my car, a member of one of the clubs approached me to say hello. Of course, this member was Vince. After a few months, I joined the club. From July 2009, I took on the role of Club Secretary, a position I still hold.

I feel great to be involved with a good bunch of members who are there for the enjoyment of owning and driving a Ford. My other interests are riding my cruiser style motor bike with The Ulysses Bike Club, the feeling of freedom when I scuba dive, and taking underwater photography.

I must say my two favourite spots for diving in South Australia are Rapid Bay Jetty because of the Leafy Sea Dragon’s and Port Victoria for all the ship wrecks.

My current car is a 2001 AU Falcon Futura, which has been restored to near new condition with an enhanced exhaust and stiffened rear springs. Other accessories from the AU Range have been fitted.

The highlight for me in 2010 was entering the AU in The All Ford Day 50th Anniversary of the Ford Falcon Display. The car did me proud by being judged as the winner in the 98 onward section.

The most fun I have had in the club is being a Spook for the evening of the biannual Spook Run.
